Yes you can customize, but customizing does not help if the entirety of it is the same (new) base.

Things change. You haven't really given any specifics other than "things changed." Yes, they did. They are not going to go back to the way they were, at least not in the near term and possibly never at all. So, you have two choices: ) sit around and be unhappy and complain or 2) learn to use the new version to the fullest. People here can help you with the second. As for the first, tell Apple using the feedback link:

I understand you’re trying to provide a solution, but buying an app for a better calculator when the phone comes with one isn’t the solution I’m looking for.

Again, two choices: 1) continue to use the built in calculator and be unhappy or 2) find one you like better.

If there’s no way of reverting back to before iOS 18 then unfortunately I don’t need/ or will be unable to seek a solution. I appreciate you taking the time to respond & try to provide solutions.

Tell Apple.

Changes to control centre,

What "great features" were removed from the Control Center? As best I can tell, nothing was removed. Mostly, things were added. The new pages are pretty easy to ignore if you don't want to use them.

changes to photo viewing,

While they have moved a lot of things around, I don't know that much has actually been removed. Have you spent some time learning how to customize the new version of Photos?

If you explain what "great features" in Photos you're missing, perhaps someone can give you more information.

changes to calculator operations

Yes, Apple has made some long-requested changes to Calculator. And, yes, some people don't like them. Other people do (The same can be said of the changes in Photos.) There are lots of third-party calculators out there if you don't like the built-in one. PCalc has been highly recommended. It's not free, but it's a one-time purchase.

I can keep going…

Pleas do. We can keep going with the answers.

I’m just bothered with the new update, every update has changes obviously but these updates are far more dramatic and tweak far more aspects that I find are typically favourable and consistent among Apple iPhones for the past few years.
