Iphone 4 music skipping/pausing?

Hi Guys,

Ive had my iphone 4 for aroudn a month now, and when listening to music the audio sometimes skips as if it were a heavily scratched cd. they also sometimes stop playing as if theyve been paused but they are still playing (little play logo in top corner present) I know the music files are fine as i used them on my 3GS for the duration of my time using the phone. Anyone else having these problems? or is there a way i can get these to stop happening without having to visit the genius bar?

Cheers!

So....how about this one...

ITunes continues to play the songs...but there is no volume/lyrics.

Iphone 4...less than 4 months old....Up to date OS for phone and Itunes.

Shake to Shuffle off.

Only have 2 apps....Solitare and a local Radio station to listen to while on patrol during my daily shifts (squad car has no AM/FM radio.)

Starting from firmware 5.0.1 both iphone 4 and iPad 1

-- jump from place to place within one song while playing,

---skipping to the next song or

---just freezing in the song for a while then play further.

Apps fail to start or crush at any time they want...

I suspect lack of RAM by devices because of the new software.

my only question is *** is going on??? Apple either should release separate firmware for older devices or allow free downgrade to any version...

and publish the firmware - iTunes cross compatibility table!!!

Hi All,

I'm having a similiar issue and it's become very annoying. Once I upgraded to iOS 5.1(9B179) I started having issues.

Basically, if I am listening to a podcast, that I dl and sync from iTunes, and go to the home screen or switch to another app my music skips a beat. Like if the "cd" was scratched. And all my podcast no longer list the artist/song information, instead they all say chapter.

I have tried: deleting and re-downloading all podcast, wipping and re-syncing my iphone as a back up and new device.

This "skipping" doesn't happen when I am listening to non podcast music. Either music I ripped from a cd or purchased from iTunes.

I'll try the removing of zone alarm tonight, and re-downloading all podcast. Anyone else have this issue?

Praise be to you ke11111y

I deleted all the music from my phone, disabled Zone Alarm on my computer, then re-synced the iPhone, and everything seems to be working fine now.

Bless you, bless you, a thousand bless-yous.

I had gaps in my music and found out it was caused by zone alarm. If you have z a try disabling it, remove your music and resync. Better still uninstall it. :O)

I had this same problem. I didn't have zonealarm. I didnt even try to downgrade, and shake to shuffle wasnt on. I got to the last page where they taked about unchecking the box to conver it to another bitrate. When I checked, mine wasn't checked. So I checked it and re-synced my iPhone 4S, closed out of all my open apps and fired up my music. It actually fixed it to convert the higher bitrate songs. Hope this helps!

the same thing is happening to me. one song appears on screen and a different one plays. i try to play one song and it skips to another. i've re-downloaded songs i have trouble with many times and then it works but only for a little while: the next day, the song that is supposedly already downloaded is not there. i don't have zonealarm and i don't have that "convert to another bitrate" box checked but the additional thing is that i can't try that bitrate fix because i sync up with icloud and if i try to check that box and then sync i get a prompt that tells me it itunes will erase the songs i currently have on my iphone and replace them with the ones i have checked on my computer, none of which are checked because when you back up with icloud the music part of your itunes shows no songs when your iphone is plugged in. can someone please help me fix this by not using the bitrate fix? going crazy wiping my iphone, re-downlaoding. is this just a verizon problem because this started happening when i switched from AT&T to verizon?

Hello everyone. Just wanted to post an update about my issue. It's been a long year of dealing with skipping since the iOS 5 update, but after updating to iOS 6, I haven't had any skipping issues within the past 3 days. Since I had no skipping issues with iOS 4, and the iOS 6 update seems to be working fine, this just confirms what I always knew: The problem was with the iOS 5 update, not with my computer, or with my aps, or with my cables, or with my itunes or iphone settings, or with my video card software being outdated, or with my TV being on at the same time as my microwave, or any of the other ideas or suggestions I'd received from Apple and other sources.

While I can't guarantee when or if the issue will reoccur, it has felt great to have full use of my iPhone again without having to worry whether this $700 product would skip while trying to let a coworker listen to a song or putting it on shuffle for a party or something. I'd gotten so used to the problem that it was weird listening to music on my iPhone throughout the day without the issue.

Here's hoping for the best and continued funtunality with iOS 6.
