Iphone 4 music skipping/pausing?

Hi Guys,

Ive had my iphone 4 for aroudn a month now, and when listening to music the audio sometimes skips as if it were a heavily scratched cd. they also sometimes stop playing as if theyve been paused but they are still playing (little play logo in top corner present) I know the music files are fine as i used them on my 3GS for the duration of my time using the phone. Anyone else having these problems? or is there a way i can get these to stop happening without having to visit the genius bar?

Cheers!

I, too, have had similar problem recently. I use standard Apple headphones.

During "Shuffle" playback of a playlist, there are some songs which start and run for about 2-5 seconds, then I get an odd beep and it skips to the next song, refusing to play that particular song. I've checked the song on iTunes and it plays fine. It also plays fine on the iPhone. It won't play from the playlist.

I'm going to try deleting the playlist and recreating it, but somehow I doubt that will fix it.

Would love to hear if others are experiencing similar problems and have suggestions.

Hey folks!! Had the same problem with music skipping and it was driving me crazy. Tried many things but the only thing that worked for me was downgrading to iTunes9.2. It seems that iTunes10 is not working properly. You can find iTune 9.2 at www.oldapps.com. You'll need to remove your iTunes10 library because it is not compatable with 9.2. Re-import all your songs and re-sync to your iPhone. No problems since!

I have an iPhone4 running OS4.1

I doubt downgrading iTunes 9.2 is the sole solution; my iPhone 3GS had started to exhibit the same skipping/glitching problem well before iTunes 10 came out.

The issue occurs regardless of the type of headphones being used. Apple headphones, Sony headphones, iPhone speaker, dock connections -- the glitches continue to occur.

I can understand that this may fix it, but I have had two iPhone 4s replaced as goodwill gestures by Vodafone because of Apple's poor software and or firmware.
For your flagship product this is not acceptable Apple, my housemate's nano plays my music fine, but my iPhone 4 plays maybe 1 in 8 songs succesfully - whats the point in advertising an iphone/touch etc as a running/training aid if it doesnt do the basics like playing music correctly
NEVER had a problem with my 3GS in 12 months by the way

ok, I have gone to "preferences" in itunes unchecked auto-sync (so it doesnt auto-sync whenever you connect your device)
I then went into "iPhone" on the left hand side toolbar, opened the iphone options, where it says 'summary, contacts, apps, ringtones, music, etc' click music, unsync all of your music, and then disconnect when finished, reconnect and re-sync. Still does it on the odd song, and still massively irritating and unacceptable, but it is less frequent!

incredible!!! zonealarm was the culprit, i thought it was the latest version of itunes 10.1, but i didnt even think a free zonealarm firewall could affect that whatsoever, i have been looking for almost a week for a resolution. im at a loss for words..

im running iOS 4.21 with iTunes 10.1, disabled zonealarm free and disabled the windows firewall, and boom all my album covers look perferct and music is no longer skipping. unbelievable!!

thank you all, had nothing to do with iTunes bad versions or x32 vs x86 systems, it was just zonealarm blocking to much shi* lol

***let me clarify, i removed all of the music off the iPhone, disabled zonealarm then copied it all back over and now it is working perfectly.
