Apple restricts the availability of macOS Monterey 12.7.6

Hello,

why is OS Monterey 12.7.6 (and 12.7.5) no longer available for download in the App Store?

I have read this from other users and of course suspect errors in these versions,

or why else would access to these versions no longer be available?

Version 12.7.4 is accessible, for example via the "Mr.Macintosh" website.

I was also only able to download it using the terminal commands, not install version 12.7.6.

The same thing happens with the software update, 12.7.6 is offered, loaded, prepared and not installed after the restart! The update for 12.7.6 is even offered again in the software update window before the restart, during the restart countdown.

Everything stays the same for me, on this iMac, 12.6.3!

In the system report under Installation, the installed component is 12.6.3!

About a month ago I went through this scenario exactly the same way, and at that time I was still able to download 12.7.6 from the App Store and also install it via software update!

Does anyone here know more about the background, will there perhaps be a corrected version 12.7.7 soon?

Greetings from Germany

Done!

I set the region to United States and the time to San Francisco in the system settings!

The App Store, accessed via the link on the Apple United States page, only offered me version 12.7.4 to download! (https://support.apple.com/en-us/102662)

The software update offered me 12.7.6 again and this time it worked!

(The size of the update has now changed from 1.8GB to 1.6GB?)

Hello and I hope this finds everyone well. I'm having a similar experience as the OP. Trying to do a clean install of Monterey on a 2019 MacPro. I initialized the internal drive and installed Monterey form a bootable USB I made. It installs 12.7.4. It then shows 12.7.6 is available, but after it completes and restarts – it does not install and I'm stuck at 12.7.4. I tried and restarted many times.

Anyone else seen and cleared this problem? Also, App store says 12.7.6, but when I download it's definitely 12.7.4 – it's a mystery. 😅 I tried all the std things, including safe mode.

FWIW - Laptop updated via software update just fine, running 12.7.6

Appreciate any insights to learn more.

Thank you @dialabrain and MartinR .

The Mr.Macintosh link says I do not have access to that server. Maybe you need a developer account?

Access to swcdn.apple.com was denied

You don't have authorization to view this page.

Apple has it on the servers somewhere, my laptop pulled it – downloaded and applied it yesterday. For the MacPro, still stuck at 12.7.4

Will keep looking, hopefully it returns to their std directories.

Hi dialabrain -

I understand it's a guess, but why do you think my laptop pull, and apply the update yesterday, but the MacPro won't?

On the MacPro it shows it's available via Software Update, but after downloading the MacPro starts to install but restarts instead of applying it and remains stuck at 12.7.4

Seems like a .plist or some other system anomaly that tells the updater 12.7.6 is already installed, when it's not. I appreciate any additional insight!

I've also been getting that same message from other direct download sites. It's odd because if there is something wrong with the 12.7.6 update, Apple would have surely issued another update to fix it.
