Have reset/changed batteries...restarted phone...checked to make sure has the latest update (it does)...bought pack of four, other three work...this one does not...makes a ping sound when I put the battery in but never shows up.

If you purchased them directly from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller, within the last 14 days, you can return them for either a full refund or a replacement set. Otherwise, they should still be covered by Apple's one-year warranty against hardware defects. As such, an Apple Technician will need to examine it to verify that this the case, and if so, you should be able to get a replacement for little or no cost to you.

I can think of three reasons:
Just tried it on my husbands iphone and it does not find it on that one either...so must be defective
will try to keep the others away...also, it has never joined...so, I have only changed the battery out with a known good one...will try the other...thank you
