Using Apple Pay on Macbook without Touch ID

Prior to upgrading to Sonoma 14.6.1 (I think) I was able to pay for purchases from my MacBook with Apple Pay. I would just select Apple Pay as the payment option on the website then be prompted to confirm on my iPhone by clicking the side button twice. Now I'm prompted by the MacBook to confirm using Touch ID, which I do not have and probably wouldn't use if I did. Bluetooth is turned on and "'allow payments on Mac" is enabled on my iPhone. Am I simply no longer able to use Apple Pay on my MacBook?

Hi,

try to the following steps could help your question.

  1. On iPhone go to settings>Wallet & Apple Pay>allow payment on Mac - turn it off then back on. If that does not work
  2. on the Mac go to iCloud.com>sign in>go to account settings>tap the Mac>remove Apple Pay from device if it has that option.
  3. Make sure all devices are using the latest iOS/macOS updates.

If. I am reading this:

  1. When checking out from an online store, click Apple Pay.
  2. If you have more than one card on file with Apple, you can choose which card to use. You can also enter a new shipping address and contact information.
  3. Place your finger on Touch ID to complete the purchase.
  4. If you haven’t set up Touch ID, you can tap the Pay button in the Touch Bar and enter your password. If your Mac doesn’t have a Touch Bar or you’re using a Mac with Apple silicon, you can double-tap Touch ID and enter your password.

Note: If the lid on your Mac is closed, you can complete your purchase using Touch ID on your Magic Keyboard (available on some models), or on your iPhone or Apple Watch and a card associated with that device.

If you haven’t set up Touch ID, see Use Touch ID.

If you have a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, and you can’t use it to complete a purchase, see the Apple Support article If Touch ID isn’t working on your Mac.

You can only use your iPhone when you dont have touch id. What MacBook do you have that there is no Touch ID on the keyboard?
