iMac Bluetooth keyboard typing slow after login

My Bluetooth keyboard on my iMac (sequoia) quit working. Well, not quite. I can enter letters at a 1 character/second rate if I am careful. If I am outside of my login ID, it works fine, for example manually typing in my password. Once I am logged in the problem starts. This started after being forced to use GoogleDrive to upload a video. I have reinstalled the operating system. I tested the keyboard on a PC, where it worked. So the keyboard is fine. I hooked it up to the USB charge port and that didn't help. I finally decided to create a new ID for the iMac. This has solved the problem for the new ID. The old ID still has the problem. I am at a loss as to trying to figure out how this could have happened, much less how to fix it.

I/just/fixed/the/problem/Somehow/slowkeys/got/turned/on.As/you/might/be/able/to/tell/by/my/typing/I/no/longer/have/a/functioning/space/bar/in/this/window    Option space works  Shift space works No Tab key

What happened is that when I changed IDs I got a brief popup on my screen with the Slow Keys message. Went to Settings and fixed it.Space bar works correctly in Word document.

Can't tell you how much I appreciate the time and effort you put into my problem.

Take care

Paul

The following will require any USB keyboard and mouse. If you don’t have them, borrow or buy them, they are inexpensive!

1.     Connect the USB keyboard and mouse to the computer.

2.     Open System Preferences – Bluetooth

3.     Un-pair the wireless keyboard and mouse.

4.     Turn off Bluetooth

5.     Restart the computer in Safe Mode per the directions in Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

6.     Restart the computer normally.

7.     Open System Preferences – Bluetooth

8.     Turn on Bluetooth

9.     Re-Pair the wireless keyboard and mouse.

10.  Unplug the USB keyboard and mouse and begin testing the wireless devices again.
