Complaint about receiving a phone with a used battery
Dear Apple,
I would like to provide more details to help you understand my situation better. 2 years and 4 months ago, I purchased an iPhone 13 (128GB) from Mobile Center Armenia, which they claim to be the official importer of Apple products in Armenia. Now, while I’m abroad in Europe, the side of my phone's screen has started swelling, and it's getting to the point where it may detach. Additionally, the Face ID is malfunctioning and no longer works properly. I managed to find a service center to diagnose the issue with my phone.
After inspection, it was found that there’s a problem with the battery, which could also be the reason for the Face ID malfunction. Realizing that I am abroad, alone, and without the means to resolve this easily, I agreed for the technicians to open the phone, identify the specific issue, and try to fix it. And guess what? It turns out the phone contains some kind of battery that looks like it’s been tampered with. It seems as if it’s poorly attached with some white paper and tape-like adhesive, which makes it hard to believe it’s the original Apple battery. With internet access, it's now easy to find images of what the original batteries look like.
The most dangerous things could have happened as a result of this – such as the battery malfunctioning and causing serious harm or damage. This is absolutely unacceptable, and I am extremely disappointed.
I cannot simply accept this situation when I know the issue is not my fault. I request that you provide a solution to this matter, as I cannot continue with a defective product. I expect to either receive a replacement phone with an original battery or a full refund for the faulty device.
I would appreciate immediate attention to resolve this issue.
