Clicking on link opens browser and App Store instead of the app

When I click on any link even if I have that app downloaded it will open up a link in a browser then it says open app so I click on it and it then still goes to the App Store and says open and when you click open it just opens the app not to where the video or link wanted you to go but just opens the app. And there’s no getting to that link or video it’s a mad circle. Please someone help me fix this. I looked it up online and it says to goto apps settings and select open by default but I don’t have anything like that.
