Activation Lock Request

Hello, I have bought an iphone online around 2 years ago (using my account through apple store uk) and delivered it to a friend and she brought it to me, now the phone is locked and I need to remove the activtion lock, I have requested twice and it keeps getting declined, what am I doing wrong? I am putting the information as it is on the receipt (it's my friends name on the receipt though). Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

The name on the receipt designates the owner regardless of who paid for the iPhone. At this time, your friend is the owner of the iPhone. Have your friend contact Apple. The other option is to have your friend perform the following action on that iPhone 👉 What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone or iPad and prepare the iPhone to be handed to you. This will work if your friend knows the Apple Account and Password information.

The fact it's in your friends name is likely causing Apple to decline your request. As far as Apple is concerned, your friend is the owner of the phone, not you, even if you may have paid for it. Why didn't your friend follow the directions in this link before giving you the phone --> What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Otherwise, this is a user to user only forum and we have no influence with Apple at all. Your friend is the key to your success here, I believe.

You didn't answer why your friend didn't prepare the phone properly before returning it to you? I doubt you'll get much useful advice from users here, because no one here works for Apple. Apple is the final arbiter on Activation Lock removal requests. You'll either need to get your friend to remove activation lock on her side, which she should have done or continue working with Apple yourself on your request.

So you bought your phone directly from Apple, and had it delivered to a friend – and she brought it to you without setting it up? Which means that it wouldn't have been associated with any owner when you got it, and would have powered on to the Hello screen, letting you set it up with your Apple ID.

In that case, if the phone is Activation Locked, wouldn't it be requesting your Apple ID and Apple ID password?

Why don't you supply those to clear the lock? We cannot remove Activation Lock for you, and according to you, Apple has made it clear that they will not remove it, either. But hopefully you know your own Apple ID and Apple ID password. (You can't even post on this Forum unless you sign in with an Apple ID.)

If you know your credentials, you may be able to clear Activation Lock either on the iPhone itself or by signing in, and clearing it, from the Web.
