WhatsApp not fully loading in iPhone X

For about a week, my WhatsApp has refused to load on my phone. It starts loading but never goes past the logo screen, although I feel like it is running in the background.

I have updated to the latest version, restarted my iPhone multiple times, deleted other apps, all to no avail.

I don’t want to delete WhatsApp as I don’t want to lose my data, I am not sure that WhatsApp is backed up in my iCloud.

Anyone with a fix?
