Updated iPad and can open all apps, with the exception of Apple News. Have restarted but page will not load.Think I have no choice but to cancel subscription. Bit ironic that an Apple upgrade has caused this problem . Any suggestions?
I seem to have fixed this by deleting Apple News and reinstalling it. It's working now. I did have to wait a while though. After relaunching it following reinstall it sat on the "Welcome to Apple News" logo for 2-3 minutes before finally allowing me to proceed and set up. But once that happened it's been fine. 🤷♂️
Hey Dave. That is interesting. 4 gen iPad Air is running a different chip. The problem might be the 7 gen iPad chip. Something I’m hoping is 18.3 beta is coming out soon, maybe that will fix it.
I get the "Loading" message forever every time I open Apple News on my iPad since updating to iPadOS 18.2 yesterday. Works fine on my iPhone with iOS 18.2. Both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, email and browsing works fine on both devices, internet access is fine. It's just Apple News on the iPad that doesn't work.
I've tried killing and reopening Apple News, restarting the iPad, nothing helps.
I checked with a friend who has an iPad Air (4th gen I think) and is running 18.2. They have no problem with Apple News, it's working fine. It does seem like this is specific to the iPad 7th generation (and later?) Is anyone having this problem with an 8th, 9th or 10th gen iPad?
Sadly this did not work for me. I even tried changing my region to a different one and then changing it back to mine (Australia) but that didn't help either.
For whatever reason with this problem I've found News will sometimes start and then stop working apparently at random. Sometimes it'll work fine a for a day or so before failing again for a day or more. Currently mine's not working and hasn't been for a couple of days.
I'm starting to think this is actually an issue at the News server end rather than on the client side.
So, does anyone have any good suggestions for a replacement? I decided to try the three months of News plus free, but now the app won’t load. I’ve wasted too much time on all of the suggestions. It’s time to try something else.
Well, here in the UK, the New Year brought no joy to my generation 7 iPad. Still get the wheel of death whenever I try - with intermittent unexpected loading by some sadistic Apple gnome. Not that I pay the exorbitant fee for News+. Perhaps it’s a subtle hint that we upgrade the iPad.
It is now jan7,2025, I cannot get Apple News app to work for a while since 18+ iOS downloads including yesterdays latest iOS update. News icon still ‘loading’ on iPad 7th gen! What’s going on!? Thank you
Exactly the same problem. Reinstalled it. Nothing helps.
Thanks David tried all of that and been onto Apple tech support and they cannot get it to work now waiting on Senior Tech expert call back to help🤞
I'm using a 7th gen iPad too. The problem (stuck on "Loading" message) has returned this morning after working fine all day yesterday, still working fine on my iPhone. 😡
And just like that it suddenly starts working again ... I give up. 🤷♂️
Hold your breath David. Mine loads up too and I think it’s fixed then in an hour or so it’s back. Hope yours is fixed
That’s interesting mines a 7th gen iPad and same fault. Obviously new software update has affected Apple News app .
Nah, it came back again yesterday evening. Still broken this morning.
I don't have a News+ subscription.
