Why do I have two Settings Apps on my iPhone Home Screen?

Hello all,

I have two actual Setting Apps on my Home Screen. When I go into my App Library, there is only one Settings App. I've also noticed that I have a notification bubble on each of the App Icons, but when I open the Settings App, there are no notifications showing in the detail categories.

My phone is up-to-date. I am baffled and the existence of the double icons and the "ghost notification."

Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Alright, I think that I can answer your question… kinda.

Ever since the App Library was added in iOS 14, Apple has included the ability for duplicate app icons. Nobody can really say why, but when Apple got rid of this behavior in iOS 18.1, people didn’t seem to like it, so Apple put it back in iOS 18.2. This may have caused two Settings apps to appear on your Home Screen. To get rid of the second one, just long press on it, and then click “Remove from Home Screen.” This should take care of it.

If it doesn’t remove it from the Home Screen or it removes both simultaneously, submit a bug report on the Apple feedback page.

I hope this helps, but…

I don’t know about the “ghost notification,” though. Try looking around in Settings. Have you checked your Apple Account settings? If you can’t find anything, submit a bug report on the Apple feedback page.

I hope this helps!
