Mfi not working iOS 18.2 / 16P

I have a hearing aid for one ear and a cochlear implant for the other. I recently upgraded from a 13 using 18.2 beta, to a 16P with 18.2 public, and the phone will not show both devices in the xxx' HAs setting screen. On the 13, it worked perfectly, and I did not have to re- pair once, connected. On the 16P, however, It will show one or the other, and not stream through both hearing devices. Every time I shut off my devices, I have to manually reconnect, and disconnect, until I can get both devices to pair.. Even though the dual pairing does not show in the HA setting screen. I've tried just about every sequence of pairing I can think of, but it's like rolling the dice - sometimes it works, sometimes not.

And I have to have the streaming working to hear incoming phone calls. I have contacted the makers of the devices, and Apple, and it seems to be a bug in the way 18.2 handles digital audio in the 16P.

But does anyone have a band aid solution? This is really a problem..

This seems to be a firmware issue with the 16P's new bluetooth chip, but Apple says to get your devices re- paired at the audiologist. I doubt that is the solution, because of iOS not showing both devices in the Device window, and not showing a device, but actually streaming. And erratic streaming connection - Loss of one device or the other, at random times.

Remembering that I had no problems with iOS 18.2 on my 13 - both devices did appear in the iOS devices screen-, but I have problems with the same iOS on 16P, I doubt the issue is with aid to implant direct communication.

After 2 calls to Apple's accessibility support, I explained how I have to have this working so I can hear phone calls. I asked when the fix would be out and they said in the next Public release, and they said they could not say when the next PR would be out. They don't see the gravity of the problem, or the urgency to fix it, for use HOH / deaf / bi - modal people. Like, I'm on the highway yesterday and a call came in, but the Phone lost connection with my implant, so I could not understand the person speaking. I am not about to, while driving, attempt to try to repair / re- pair the MFi connection. So I had to tell the caller I will call them back, then pull off the road, try a few times to get the connections restored, then return the call. And every time I have to shut off my devices, I have to futz with re- pairing them to the 16P at the same time.

Please call Apple, if you are experiencing this problem

I have the same issue with my Rexton hearing aids paired to an iPad Air running ipadOS 18.2. I only hear sound from one hearing aid at a time plus display only shows battery level for the connected hearing aid.

However, my hearing aids work correctly when connected to my iPhone 12 running iOS 18.2; sound received simultaneously from both hearing aids and the battery level is displayed for both aids in the hearing aid settings.
