Corrupted download restore IPhone 12

Hi everyone

recently I bought a I phone 12. I then updated my I phone 12 to the latest OS however but during the download something went wrong! Seems it’s reset and shows the welcome however when you open the screen it glitches and just won’t open at all!

I reset the phone and no change!

Next step was plugging into a MacBook Air! Issue then is it tried to download the update and restore when the phone kept switching off after 15 mins. I then worked out that it completed the download but then said file was corrupted.

restarted the MacBook

back to the phone and I’ve put it in DFU mode. All good until download of the software is complete and then I still get the corrupted file message?

I have latest OS on MacBook Air and 60g of space!

absolutely no idea where to go from here! I can’t even find the file it downloads.

any help will be appreciated

When you go to restore from your computer choose Download Only, then after that completes, Restore.

You said it is an iPhone 12, a model that Apple discontinued 15 months ago (although it is still supported with updates and hardware service). Was this a previously owned phone? Did it work and show the Hello screen the first time you turned it on?

Yes. I have a new I phone 16 and 15 pro max. This 12 is my son’s now. Yes it showed the hello screen. Then updated to latest os but now when you open from Hello screen scrolling up you can see the password screen briefly but it just won’t open. Just like it’s stuck on hello screen. Really odd! Can’t seem to get past this at all. I’ve gone back to iPhone recovery mode but it’s still the same issue with pressing update instead of Restore I phone.
