Ever since I updated to 18.2 my phone has started overheating for no reason. I don’t have to be doing anything but reading the news and I can feel it getting hot in my hand. It won’t even charge without getting too hot to complete charging. Anyone have any idea what’s going on? I’ve had iPhones ever since the original came out, never had this problem before.

It can be several different unrelated causes. After an update, the most common reason for high battery capacity drain and heat is third party apps. Please share your battery capacity usage for the last 24 hours and the last 10 days. Then we can see what is using your capacity and causing the heat. Here’s mine,

First thing I did was go into settings and turnoff AI, lo and behold! No more heating and it charged normally. Then, after reading your reply and using your suggestion, I did modify some of my app settings just because that was good advice anyway, lol.
