Text message only showing in watch not iPhone

That's unusual. You shouldn't get a notification of a message on your phone if the phone is locked and you are wearing your watch, but the message should still appear in messages on your phone.

Try a simple Forced Restart of your iPhone and see if the messages then come through --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support (CA)

Are you by chance referring to notifications of message or are you saying when wearing you watch, if you get a message, then open your iPhone, the message is not on your iPhone at all?
