I erased my phone from FindMe by mistake

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 13 to an iPhone 15, and the transition went smoothly. I transferred all my data and apps and performed a factory reset on the old phone.

However, I ran into an issue. When I checked the Find My app, I noticed the name "iPhone 13" still appeared there. Thinking it was safe to remove it, I decided to erase it.

Big mistake—it turned out I had erased my new iPhone 15 instead. This triggered a factory reset, and I had to restore everything from a backup that was three days old. As I’m writing this, the phone is still downloading the data.

Now, the real problem: in the Find My app, my current phone (the iPhone 15) is marked as "erased." For example, I can’t locate it from my PC, and there’s a red trash can icon next to its name. I’m worried it might reset itself again after some time, possibly because the system thinks it was stolen.

Does anyone know how to fix this or prevent another reset?

Wait until the download has finished, then restart the phone and other devices on your network. Check to make sure that the correct name for the phone appears under Settings > General > About. Edit the name if necessary.

The phone will not reset unless you tell it to do so.
