Macbook pro shuts down randomly

For about a week now, every time I turn on my laptop, despite being above 50%, it shuts down on me. If I try to turn it back on, it says it's out of battery, and only turns on again if I plug it in. What is happening?? This is a laptop from 2017, is it just showing the signs of age??

Try running the third party app EtreCheck and posting the complete report here so we can examine it for possible clues.

Also, disconnect all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem. Of course you may need the power adapter connected directly to the laptop.

You can also try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected. Only a failing diagnostic is useful.
