Why iOS 18.2 Causing Bugs on iPhone 15?

Hi everyone!

I would like to share my experience with the new iOS 18.2 public release.

After installing iOS 18.2, I encountered some annoying bugs.

First, I can no longer monitor my sleep in the Health app because the option to track sleep with the iPhone is no longer available. I read some articles and found that Apple removed this feature in iOS 18.

Second, I have issues with stickers as well. I have been using the “Animal Stickers” pack, which I purchased to unlock all the stickers. However, after installing iOS 18.2, the stickers in the “Recently Used” tab are no longer mobe after I send them. I tried removing the “Animal Stickers” pack from my iPhone and reinstalling it, but now the stickers I previously purchased are locked. When I try to repurchase them, I receive an error message: “Transaction failed.” As a result, I can’t use the stickers I already paid for.

Third, the Control Centre introduced a new feature that allows you to place Wi-Fi or Bluetooth buttons for quick access. However, I noticed an issue: when I turn on Wi-Fi from the Control Centre, the icon turns white. But if I then navigate to the Settings app and completely turn off Wi-Fi, the Wi-Fi icon in the Control Centre still stays white. The same issue occurs with the Bluetooth icon.

Fourth, I noticed a minor issue: when opening the Settings app, the text and toggle switch for Airplane Mode appear slightly delayed after the app has loaded.

I hope Apple will fix these issues in the next update or a future release.

Based on your description, it seems these issues are mainly caused by the system update. I also experienced Bluetooth connection problems after updating, and downgrading to the previous version resolved the issue for me. Below is a general guide on how to downgrade your iOS version.

Step 1. Download the Appropriate IPSW File

Download the correct IPSW firmware file for your iPhone model from a reliable source.

Check Where can I manually download IPSW files … - Apple Community

or Download iOS IPSW Offline without iTunes

Ensure that the file you download exactly matches your device model and that it is a signed version.

Step 2. Enter Recovery Mode

To put your iPhone into recovery mode, follow these steps (for iPhone 15, for example):

  • Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
  • Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
  • Press and hold the Side button until the recovery mode screen appears.

Step 3. Restore the IPSW File Using iTunes/Finder

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina and later).

How to uninstall iOS or iPadOS beta software - Apple Support

  • Select your device in the app.
  • Hold down the Option key (on a Mac) or Shift key (on Windows) and click the Restore iPhone… button.
  • In the file selection window that appears, locate and select the IPSW file you downloaded.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to proceed with the downgrade.

Check out their contact details here: How to Restore Custom IPSW with iTunes.

Please note that downgrading can be risky—it might lead to data loss or other compatibility issues. Make sure to back up your data thoroughly before proceeding, and confirm that the iOS version you wish to downgrade to is still being signed by Apple.

The 18.1 messed with my photo screen terribly . My texts weren’t going through in order. And several other changes caused issues . I called support 10 times . Said no one else was having issues . So I asked for a senior advisor . He said I’d have to update to 18.2 before senior tech would talk to me. Did that and now emails are all mixed. Says categorizing . I’m so disappointed in Apple about this . I think someone tried to justify their job and caused a lot of angry customers to leave .

I’ve been experiencing frequent random shutdowns on my iPhone after updating to iOS 18.2. My battery health is at 85%, but even with charging, the phone shuts off unexpectedly, sometimes even when the battery is around 60%. This issue began after the update, and it happens whether the phone is charging or not. Has anyone else faced this problem, or does anyone have a solution to prevent these random shutdowns?

I have not yet tried those functions you are having issues with and therefore am not sure if I have the same. I am having one particular issue I wonder if you or anyone else is experiencing after updating to iOS 18.2.

I can no longer see the photos/album toggle on in app settings and permissions. I found this out when I was downloading the insta360 app to make my flow gimbal work. I could not get past the first page of the app asking me to turn on the albums setting to allow it to access my camera and photos to edit. It is just gone.

I stupidly tried resetting my permissions settings and now I can no longer share photos on various other social messaging apps like Viber, messenger and WhatsApp. Every time I click on camera or share photos from album on any of those apps it tells me I need to switch on that particular permission then it redirects me to the app’s settings to do so, but the setting is gone.

i don’t know what to do other than resetting my phone completely which I haven’t yet. Has anyone come across this and was able to fix it and tell me how? Can anyone help? Thanks.

The only issue I’ve had with iOS 18.2 is that it has rendered my Mail app unusable when connecting to WiFi

It only downloads my emails if I turn off my WiFi and use my mobile data

I have tried a few things suggested by others without success (including changing to ‘list view’ and deleting the account and adding it again)

Unless it’s because I only have the 14 pro max and not the latest iPhone maybe?

How do I contact Apple to explain this issue

Thanks

sorry in advanced, im using voice to text on my phone since it's a little too much to type out and apple isn't letting me log in on desktop

my main issues with 18.2 is the Spotify album covers not working on the lock screen or my camera app working or my flash working. With Spotify and or Apple Music when I lock my phone screen, it does not show the album cover of any song, no matter what only for you to premium. I don't even think SoundCloud, but I haven't checked it. as far as camera issues I play a game that sometimes has the results screen for maybe 15 to 20 seconds I launch my camera app and it will not launch the camera app. I have to close my phone. I have to unlock my phone and sometimes my Face ID won't even work so I'm trying to open my phone after I open the Camera app and I just can't login because it doesn't detect my face and with the flash it just doesn't work half the time like it takes 10 seconds for the flash to launch. and still the main issue is the iPhone 16 is the screen just doesn't work half the time I have a screen protector and if I remove it or even if I remove my screen protector it will not work. I shouldn't have to press hard on my screen for the keypad to work

hello everybody.

I am using an iPhone 13 and iOS 18.2. I have experienced a lot of bugs on the user interface (UI) and also when I try to download anything which shows you the times left, it just keeps increasing. For example, when I tried to download Rocket League Sideswipe (a 1.42 GB game) and the my network is stable and fast. It says 30 minutes, then 40, then 1 hour until it reaches 4 hours. The AppStore shows me the painfully slow progress but it won’t display on the home screen, it just displays the game shaded. Previously, I fixed the problem using a very strange yet effective solution (it may work for you if you are facing a similar problem), the solution is downloading an extremely small app like a less than 10 MB app, An app called PhotoFunia worked the best for me. When it finished downloading you can delete it and it should fix the problem. This solution unfortunately does not work on iOS 18.2, please help me fix this issue

Thank you!
