Apple TV switches to search by itself and can't use controller to go back

recently my apple tv keeps switching to search movies, and music page without me asking it to or even touching the controller and when it does the controllers back button, volume mute button stop working, is this a known issue or a virus

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue that some other Apple TV users have reported. This problem seems to be related to a glitch in the tvOS software rather than a virus2. Users have found that using the search function within the Apple TV app (as if you were going to watch an Apple TV original show) can resolve the issue. Alternatively, using Siri voice search from the Home Screen has also been suggested as a workaround.

If the issue persists, you might want to check for any software updates for your Apple TV, as updates often include fixes for such glitches. If the problem continues after updating, you could consider reaching out to Apple Support for further assistance.

Does this help, or is there anything else you'd like to know?

No, problem still persist after updating my apple tv 4K. The only thing I haven't tried is resetting it. Anyone have any idea or reason for this problem?? This is the picture of the Apple TV screen I'm stuck on unless I pull the plug. What is this??????

is this a known issue or a virus

Neither. And there are no known viruses on Apple TV, nor ways to get there. Apple TV is sandboxed, and the only executables can come from the App Store.

Despite all the hype, AI isn’t a good problem solver (yet). It just copies and rephrases what it finds more often than other descriptions, regardless of such supposed solutions working that way. It is not real knowledge, even though generally chat conversations on support sites are included in the AI learning material (not sure about Apple Support chats).

“seems to be related to a glitch in the tvOS software”

That is an unfounded accusation. MS should be liable for that.

“check for any software updates”

Always a good idea, regardless of the absence of issues. Not-updated devices can be cause of issues.

While this is a user-to-user community, not Apple Support staff, that last advice is not bad at all. If wanted: Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

This shows the Search app. You may have accidentally opened it by clicking the Siri/microphone button. If Siri is not active on your system, then this button is intended to open the Search app. A restart of the device would open the last opened app again.

Anyone have any idea or reason for this problem?

Probably the remote. See above.

The only thing I haven't tried is resetting it.
