All Mac computers come with iWork, Apple's productivity apps, which include Pages, Apple's word processor.

This is from the Technical Specifications page for the 24" M4 iMac. Note that Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are among the "built-in" apps.
Footnote 6 says that: "iMovie, GarageBand, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are available on the Mac App Store. Downloading apps requires an Apple Account and a device that is compatible with the OS version required for each app. iPhone Mirroring is not available in all countries and regions. Some iPhone features (e.g., camera and microphone) are not compatible with iPhone Mirroring."
You didn't bother to check the "6" superscript…

Well, neither of my new Macs came with Pages, Keynote or Numbers but they are easy enough to download for free from the App Store.
Depending on your definition of "word processing", it also comes with TextEdit.
There is also the third-party, Open Source program LibreOffice . It's free of charge – although the developers won't refuse donations, if you want to make one.
Neither have any of my last four Macs since 2021 come with these applications. Not even my Apple refurbed 2020 iMac. I buy directly from Apple, but there's nothing to say that a third-party reseller might "stuff" these applications onto a newly purchased Mac from them.
Hmmm. That would mean they would have to open the box and set it up.
