Lloyds Bank app authentication issue on iPad Air 2

I have an iPad Air 2 - running software version 15.8.3 and my Lloyds Bank app will not work. It hangs at the authentication screen and then just goes back to the main screen. I have been to Lloyds who have had a look but as it works on their iPads and also works on iPhones (of which I have one too) they are saying the issue is with Apple.

I tried the app on my husband's iPad which is running iPad OS 17.73 and it works fine. I am currently updating his iPad to the latest version to see if this has an impact on the how the app works for him.

Whilst in Lloyds bank this morning there were two other ladies trying to get their iPads sorted out too - I do not know what the outcome of this was but it would seem there is an issue somewhere along the line.

Any ideas?

So... today. I messed around swapping iPads so that I had a more up to date one and upon downloading the app from the App store I had the same issues!

I got around this by logging onto the banking website and scanning the QR code provided. This took me to the App Store but when I downloaded this way it worked!

I then decided to try on my old iPad Air 2 running 15.8.3 using the camera to scan the QR code on the website.

Hip hooray, it worked! So obviously the solution is to access the app via the Lloyds bank website, scan using the iPad camera and then install from there.

Hope this works for everyone. Good luck xx

That is brilliant. Thanks so much for that. When I looked at the age of my iPad I thought perhaps I would have to buy a new one! Wouldn't be doing that in a rush just to use a banking app but it has highlighted the fact that I need to think about a replacement in due course.

Scanning the QR code using an iPad or iPhone from the Lloyds Bank website on a computer browser should take you to the following screen, giving you the opportunity to 'UPDATE' the app.

If the device is already up to date, you'll see 'OPEN' at the top instead.

You have to be registered for Lloyds Internet Banking to use the App. As such, if the App isn't working for any reason, you can simply sign-in using a web browser from any computer:

I’ve just been having the same problem and because I’m not tech savvy AT ALL I was not looking forwards to uninstalling, passwords, re- installing, re-authentication, blah, blah, blah.

But as I see other people are aware & experiencing the same issue so………………….thank you, the sixth it is

happy new year one and all.

Contacted Lloyds about bank app on my iPad 3 weeks ago and they said it was a browser issue. Today 6/1/2025 it’s still not been fixed. Tried 10 times to log into my bank and ten times it cuts out. It worked before they updated it with white snow falling. All my other bank apps work so I guess I’ll be going to another bank as in this day and age it should have been fixed as soon as they knew it was a browser problem.

If the Lloyds Banking App isn't working for any reason, as you are already registered for Internet Banking, you can simply and easily perform your banking by signing-in using a web browser from any computer:

Thanks itunes connect.

I am happy to confirm that this method worked for me.

Scanning the QR code from the Lloyds Bank Website allowed me to 'UPDATE' the app, which now works.

When I initially checked the Lloyds Banking App directly in the App Store, it didn't offer the option to update, only open, so I guess the updated version is currently only available via the Lloyds Bank Website.

This will probably will be sorted in the App Store over the coming days.

I hope other users have the same luck.
