What types of damage does AppleCare+ cover?

My cat pulled on the USB-C cord while my Mac was charging, and it fell onto the floor, causing there to be a significant dent to both the top and bottom enclosures. I read that AppleCare+ covered enclosure damage and have set up a repair, but read online that if Apple deems it to not fall under Enclosure Damage, they will send the product back unrepaired. Does the damage in the included photos fall under this category, or will I have to pay out of pocket without any AppleCare deductible?

The "Enclosure" mentioned in the AC+ documentation refers to the Aluminum Rear Housing of the Display Assembly (it used to be a separate part years ago). It is not referring to the "enclosure" on the base of the laptop where the Palmrest & Keyboard are located. I know this for a fact since I had to deal with Apple regarding AC+ coverage that involved damage to both components.

You are not looking at a $99US repair. You are looking at a $398US repair. The damage to the base of the laptop is considered "Other" by Apple and would cost $299US.

Unfortunately Apple's article is very poorly written so it is not at all clear this is how AC+ works. You may want to check the details within the actual AC+ contract as it may provide more specifics (I don't recall it being very clear either when I reviewed it some years ago regarding coverage costs related to something very similar).

I would expect you will receive a requote for $398US, unless they only address the damage to the Display Assembly. Usually Apple is all or nothing when performing repairs, so I very much doubt they would repair just the Display damage & leave the damage to the base, but I cannot say for sure.

If you had Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider involved in this repair, then contact them. If you mailed the laptop to Apple for repairs, then I don't know what your options may be at this time except perhaps to wait until the mail-in repair depot examines your laptop. I don't know if you have any method of communicating with them unless they first initiate communication with you.
