Hi I have 2 vey precious DVDs that I would like to copy to memory sticks. However when I copy the .bup, .ifo and .vob files to my Mac I am unable to do anything with the files as they are only available if the original dvd is in the dvd player.
Are there any suggestions please?

DVDs produced by a family member will not be copy protected. So, that's not a problem.
You can't just copy the contents of a movie disk and expect it to work - somewhat. If you copy the entire TS_VIDEO folder to the desktop, you can use an app like Toast Titanium to burn new DVD copies. Or just use Toast's Copy function.
If you want something more transportable, like an MP4, then you can use the free Handbrake to rip the disk to a file.

that is not how music/movies/software works you only own the rights to license to material.
if it's not drm/hdcp encrypted you can use the free app called handbrake to make it into a format for your USB stick.
non that are legal, if it's a commercial DVD then the encryption is to insure people do not pirate it.
Hi I don’t know if they are “protected“ or not. The dvds are approximately 15 years old. They were put together for my father from old ciné films. I want copies for my family and I thought that as the original cine belongs to us then the dvds are ours too.

I assume you mean home movies that your family made ... and they were transferred to DVD. Is that correct?
Or is any of the cine/video from a commercial source ... released film, movie, etc.?
What do you mean by 'protected?' Are these commercial DVD's ... or are they homemade DVDs that you just don't know how to copy and therefore they appear to be somehow 'protected.'
