How can I filter my messages, so I only see the unread?

This video has the answer.
Basically, settings app > Messages > filter unknown senders.
Go back to your messages — for some reason, this is what turns on the option to filter by unread as well.
Please see the two Pics Below which are self-explanatory
Pic 1 --> I tested to check your claim. It turned out that unread messages if not read will appear as shown below. iPhone 12 Pro iOS 16.6
Pic 2 --> Check the Message Setting on your device may be it is be changed as shown in the pic below.

I'm trying to be helpful by posting this – why don't you remove the 1st pic, since anyone searching for this clearly has that setting off?
