how do i download Mojave when I already have Catalina installed?

I want to downgrade to Mojave from Catalina because it's the last supported operating system for my 2012 MacBook Pro, and I wanted to upgrade to Sequoia but I can't with Catalina on there because it is not supported by Apple. It has to be the last supported OS but when I go to download Mojave to make a bootable drive, it keeps telling me that the version is too old.

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do. Catalina is the last supported macOS version for all 2012 Intel MacBook Pro models (in fact, if you did downgrade, Mojave would be constantly reminding you there is an update to Catalina available).

You cannot upgrade to Sequoia on a 2012 MacBook Pro, regardless of what version you are starting from, without hacking the boot firmware using Clover or OpenCore, or something similar...so what exactly are you trying to do, and why do you think downgrading from Catalina to Mojave will help you to do that?

More likely certificates may be problematic on internet restore. You may have to set the system clock back.

That's covered in part by this article:

You may end up having to find an Apple usergroup that has members still running off the old OS, who can create a copy of the old OS installer for you.

In the future always clone backup before upgrading.

I could see all that too - but what the OP said was, "I want to downgrade to Mojave from Catalina because it's the last supported operating system for my 2012 MacBook Pro, and I wanted to upgrade to Sequoia but I can't with Catalina on there because it is not supported by Apple."

I realize people often have trouble writing what they really need in forum posts, so hopefully the OP can clarify because what they wrote doesn't make sense as written.
