How do I access a very old email account without password?

I have an email account from Apple, @mac.com from years ago that I never ever used, I don’t remember ever assigning a password to. As far as I know I never used it, but when I was making a purchase to be delivered online yesterday that email popped up as my email of choice to send to the company I was ordering from and I accidentally selected it. So now I’ve made a purchase and all correspondence with the company is going through that email and I have no access to any of it. I don’t know which Apple ID it might be associated with. Is there anything I can do to get into that email and how do I even get to that email account to try to get into?

This article tells you the various ways you can try to discover your forgotten Apple ID --> If you forgot your Apple Account primary email address or phone number - Apple Support Typically an Apple ID is an email address you have used. If you are currently using a mobile device that is logged into your account, go to Settings and tap your name at the top. Look in Keychain, and in a browser's security settings if you use it to automatically sign into Apple when using a browser.

Since this is with regards to a .mac account the situation can be complicated. If you cannot resolve it using hte above articles I suggest you contact Apple. In theory if the account has not been used in a year or more it could even be deleted entirely with no hope of recovery.
