MacBook storage remains full even after moving files to iCloud

Files stored in iCloud are also stored on your local drive. iCloud provides sharing/synchronization of files across devices logged into the iCloud account.

When we move files to the Trash and subsequently empty the Trash, it can take a while for the Finder to calculate and finally release the space they once occupied. "A while" is generally accepted to be about a day.
