How good is the AppleCare Theft Coverage? (Such as during international travel)

I'm currently thinking about switching from Android to the iPhone Pro 16, although I'm debating if I want to get the AppleCare Theft protection and even more so, if I want to wait until after I do an international trip to Europe in 2025 (my current phone is cheap so I don't worry as much about it being stolen).

So my question is, how good is the theft coverage? I read that "find my phone" has to be on continuously for the claim to be honored, would that mean if someone steals my phone then turns it off, or it runs out of battery, would I not be able to get the phone replaced under the coverage?

As long as you do what is required (such as having Find My turned on) it is good if you are concerned about theft/loss and don’t want to be responsible for buying a new device yourself.

And Find My has to be active….meaning turned on in settings. The device being powered off or battery dying does not affect the theft coverage as long as Find My was on the whole time. You would still be able to get it replaced.
