Lost all Downloads, documents and desktop files

Recently, I changed my profile username on my MacBook by creating an admin user and then altering my profile's username from that admin user. Logging back into my profile, I noticed something that caught my eye. All my files located in Finder were gone. I assume when I renamed my user, (This consists of Downloads, Documents, and desktop. I'm sure there are more folders or apps with erased data.)

From there on, I attempted to retrieve my data using iCloud. I had no luck there; I couldn't retrieve my files from iCloud Drive. While in the Browse folder, I found an empty Downloads folder within said folder. Could this mean anything?

After that, I took these steps to attempt to recover my deleted files:

  1. I tried to switch the newly-created username back to its original. (That didn't work, but iCloud was able to sync data)
  2. I deleted the admin user used to rename my user. (Again, this didn't work, but iCloud was able to sync data)
  3. When I realized my user data was still erased, I tried to fix this issue by deleting my user and creating a new one with the same Apple ID.

Navigating to Safari to report this issue, I noticed the iCloud tabs on my start page, showing the websites I accessed before changing my username.

So is there any way to restore my lost files, or am I not able to retrieve them?
