Retail store unable to provide invoice for iPhone purchase

I just bought an iPhone from a retail store in the US.

All I got was an email receipt. They say they are unable to provide an invoice with my personal information on it.

I called the Apple help, they said they cannot access my purchase.

So no way for me to get an invoice, which in practice, shouldn't be hard to get. How can I get it ?

Thanks for your help.

An invoice and a receipt are virtually synonymous. Apple doesn’t and most businesses in the US don’t invoice people, businesses yes, individuals no.

Apple Stores can provide receipts. But an invoice was never created. You receive a receipt from Apple, just like you would when you make a purchase at a grocery store.

Specifically, what information does the receipt need to contain?
