Older iMac, Monterrey, "export" video via firewire?

I have a late 2015 iMac running Monterrey. I am finally getting around to digitizing my collection of old VHS and 8mm videos. I've been successful in capturing the videos via a Canopus ADVC-110 gadget and editing in iMovie. I now know how to save the edited videos to my iMac or an external hard drive.


Is there any way, or an app, that will enable me to play the videos and export them via firewire? I have a working GoVideo DVC/VHS machine, and it looks like I can "import" video and burn directly to DVD discs with this machine My quandary is how to "export" the videos to the GoVideo machine.


OR - am I overlooking a much simpler method for doing this? I do want/need to do some editing on the VHS videos before saving. Thanks for any assistance or insights!

The FW input on your GoVideo machine was designed to accept a video stream from a tape playing in a camcorder and record it on DVD/R/RW. Neither iMovie nor Final Cut can output that way.


If you want to make playable DVDs from video edited in iMovie or Final Cut you will need a CD/DVD burner and a DVD authoring app like Roxio Toast.


If I may suggest a good CD/DVD burner, look at the Pioneer BDR-XD08S. Very capable, modest cost.
