Had some temporary difficulty with Face ID after 18.2 but then it seemed to resolve on its own. I’ve updated to 18.2.1 and today I encountered a similar situation with Face ID sign in. Only this time my phone powered down on its own. Once restarted the Face ID was working fine. Just wondering if others have experienced this lately.

If your phone is powering down unexpectedly, the first thing to check is Settings>Battery>Battery Health. What is the current Maximum capacity?

So the Face ID issue isn't with unlocking your but with third-party apps? If so, delete the apps and re-install them.
What is the "situation" you're having with Face ID? Have you tried deleting the data and setting it up again?
Based on what I've seen in the forums, this is certainly not a widespread issue. That points to it being something wrong with your phone.
