getting weird text messages from apple

my brother has been getting these kind of text messages from apparently called ‘Apple’? i asked him if he registered his number on any kind of suspicious site or app but he said that he doesn’t recall any platforms like that. there also appears nothing on the contact info list. Any ideas what these symbols might mean or what kind of text messages are these?

It takes very little effort to change Caller ID info and sending information from Messages/Emails. It is called spoofing and happens all the time. You can report them here, but that does not mean they will stop because they can just spoof a different number/email.

You're welcome. 🙂

What this person may be trying to do is see if they can cause an iOS device to break with an exact string of text. That can possibly allow them remote access if it causes a memory error.

This has happened a couple of times in the past (years ago), when someone stumbled on just such an issue. But I wouldn't worry about it. It takes extreme luck to hit upon such specific way to cause a memory error.
