i am printing from a laser printer (OKI MC853) and all of a sudden the print direct from mac OS is a mix of grey and black (when printing B&W) OR sections of colour printing is half there and half not.
however when i photocopy from the same machine the print is fine.
any ideas please ?

Check for and install the most recent printer and scanner drivers available from Oki, and update the printer firmware (to A08.04_0_6 from either April or August 2024)), and check again.
I’d usually update the firmware directly from the printer.
I’m not sure if this printer has AirPrint, as it’s not listed in the specs, but there is an AirPrint manual included in the printer docs.

thank you so much for your help ... i came here to say unfortunately it did not work after doing as you suggested - i was hopeful having never updated the firmware (only the drivers). it didnt seem to work yesterday. came back fresh this morning, unplugged the machine, restarted everything - still didnt work ...
unpacked the toners and put back again ... NOW ITS WORKING ! ... i am very happy thank you.
