Bluetooth Shutter Remote only adjusts ringer volume SOLVED

I had this problem and could not figure out what was wrong. The remote worked with the Camera app but not with CameraPixels for focus stacking. I was on iOS 17 and tried upgrading to iOS 18 with no luck. I tried two brands of bluetooth remotes and neither worked but mine worked on a friend's iPhone. This told me it was a setting on the phone.

I contacted support for the bluetooth remote and was instructed to do the following:

Open SETTINGS

Open SOUND AND HAPTICS

Turn OFF the option to CHANGE WITH BUTTONS

This solved the problem and my bluetooth remote works fine on the Camera app and CamerPixels.
