Something went wrong when I formatted my old Intel-based Macbook Pro > and I had not prepared a recovery USB .... My new Macbook Air (M3) can not be used for this job ... Can someone help me out here or can I get somewhere such a recovery MacOS (eg Ventura 13.x ?)

Thank you for your reply. I tried every option, including Cmd-Option-R. I forgot what was mentioned on the screen but really, sadly enough a recovery from USB seems to be the only possibility left ;-)
Hey MrHoffman, sorry for the delay. It's 2017. To note what error message I got on the screen after booting into recovery mode I performed exactly the same actions as several times before. And ... I was able to proceed with the reinstallation. Completely unexpected, but OK, problem solved. Thx for yr replies.

What was the error message shown? Depending on what it is, it might not be a block.
