Unsupported hard drive configuration in PhotoLab on iMac

I get this message sometimes: We have detected that some of your hard drives are configured in a way that is not supported by PhotoLab..: The Impacted drives are "Backup Drive 3' and "Backup Drive 3"...

I have one drive attached to my new iMac. It is titled "Backup Drive 3". There are no other drives attached nor have there been. The suggestion is that the UUID's of the two drives are in conflict but there is only one external hard drive and has only ever been one drive. How do I fix this?

DXO – Help Center – Error "we have detected that some of your hard drives are configured in a way that is not supported by DxO PhotoLab." (macOS only)

There's an article by the people who make Carbon Copy Cloner on the same issue.

Bombich – Carbon Copy Cloner – "CCC found multiple volumes with the same Universally Unique Identifier"

The current version of CCC contains a "non-destructive" tool that can reset a drive's UUID. How safe it would be to run that tool on your external drive, is something I don't know. (I suppose you could ask DXO what they think about the CCC "Reset UUID" menu item.)
