Apple Watch Ultra 2 Assistive Touch PIN Issue for Apple Pay

Hi All,

I have tried setting up assistive touch on my Apple Watch Ultra 2 so I can pay with pinch/ double pinch.

i have tested it out on a transaction and every time I take the watch closer to the card payment machine it’s asking for the PIN number. Is this normal?

when you setup assistive touch and confirm with assistive touch you have to set up a PIN number. When you wear the 1st think the watch asks for the PIN number, when you want to pay you have to enter the pin again and use the hand gesture?

Thanks.

Hi Jeff,

I finally figured it out! It's a bit more involved compared to the iPhone, but I successfully configured AssistiveTouch on my iPhone, and it works seamlessly. I just hold the phone near the card terminal, and FaceID authorizes the payment without needing to press any buttons.

To accomplish the same on my Apple Watch Ultra 2 with the latest OS (v11.2):

  1. I raise my hand, and as soon as I see the visual effect, I double pinch to activate AssistiveTouch.
  2. Then, I use the single pinch gesture I set up to trigger Apple Pay. This brings up the primary payment method on the screen.
  3. I do a single pinch again to select the card. At this point, it prompts me for the PIN, so I enter it.
  4. Once I enter the PIN, I see the prompt on my watch screen saying "Hold near Card Reader."
  5. Now I hold the watch near the card reader and the payment goes through.

I hope Apple makes this a one-step process like on the iPhone in future updates.

Many thanks.

Valid question :) I was just testing out the AssistiveTouch feature.

I didn't know that I can double click the the crown to trigger ApplePay. I thought it's the side button that we have to double click?

So How does the process work when we use double clicking the crown feature? Do we have to still enter PIN? What are the steps please?

Many Thanks.
