MacBook Pro with M2 Chip: Serial Number Check Confirms

So I’ve seen a MacBook Pro with m2 chip. I asked the seller to show me the info on the box with serial number etc. There is no mention of it saying it has the m2 chip but I did the serial number checker and it comes up it has the m2 chip.

Note that what level of chip (“plain”, Pro, or Max) is in a Mac notebook has a strong correlation to that Mac’s capabilities.


13” MacBook Pros with plain M1 and M2 chips have a very limited selection of ports, and support only a single external display. In many ways, they are closer to 13” M1 and M2 MacBook Airs than to higher-end MacBook Pros.


14” MacBook Pros with plain M3 and M4 chips picked up some - but not all - features from their higher-end siblings.
