No way of knowing just from pictures of the box. The box might be genuine but the Mac itself not, or it could be used, stolen, or have been altered in some way. If you are concerned, I'd recommend buying your Mac only from Apple directly or from an authorized Apple reseller.

Apple also has a certified refurbished store that could offer you a price-reduced MacBook Pro with more practical RAM and Storage options. It would have a 1-year warranty, 90 days of free phone support, and eligibility for AppleCare+ coverage.

Unless your needs are extremely minimal, you want at least 16 GB of RAM, and at least 512 GB of internal SSD space. (Especially on a notebook computer, where it is not as convenient to use external drives on a full-time basis.)

Note that what level of chip (“plain”, Pro, or Max) is in a Mac notebook has a strong correlation to that Mac’s capabilities.

13” MacBook Pros with plain M1 and M2 chips have a very limited selection of ports, and support only a single external display. In many ways, they are closer to 13” M1 and M2 MacBook Airs than to higher-end MacBook Pros.

14” MacBook Pros with plain M3 and M4 chips picked up some - but not all - features from their higher-end siblings.

DON'T buy a Mac that only has 8GB RAM memory. That is not enough to run Ventura or later in an appropriately responsive way.

if you buy it, you will have to run only ONE app at a time.
