How can I silence notifications on my iPhone while recording audio?

I need to record some audio from my phone. That part I have figured out so my question is how do I set my phone to turn off receiving text, phone calls, notifications, etc? I don't want to get tones, bings, bongs, etc as part of my audio. Thank you

With the Do Not Disturb (DND) Focus enabled on an iPhone, distractions can be minimized while taking videos or recording audio, but there are some important details to keep in mind:

  1. Incoming Notifications: Notifications and calls are silenced or hidden based on your DND settings. This ensures that pop-ups, banners, or sounds won’t disturb your video recording or audio session.
  2. Visual Distractions: Notifications won't appear on the screen, so there won't be any intrusive visuals while recording.
  3. Haptic Alerts: If haptic feedback is enabled, you may still feel vibrations for incoming calls or notifications unless you've configured DND to block them entirely.
  4. Custom Settings: You can customize the DND Focus in Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb to allow or block specific contacts, apps, or notifications, ensuring a tailored experience.
  5. Audio Interference: When recording audio, DND prevents notification sounds from being captured, leading to a cleaner recording.

However, enabling DND does not block all distractions:

  • Emergency Bypass: Contacts or apps with Emergency Bypass enabled can still break through.
  • Alarms and Timers: These are not silenced by DND and will go off as scheduled.
  • System Alerts: Low battery warnings or system-related prompts may still appear.

To achieve maximum focus during recordings, ensure that Emergency Bypass is disabled for all contacts and that alarms or timers are turned off or adjusted.

Open Control Center, tap Focus, then tap the Focus you want to turn on (for example, Do Not Disturb). Note: If another Focus is already on, it turns off when you tap the new one.
