iPhone 13 stuck on 'Use Another Device to Sign In' after iOS 18.2.1 update

I was offered an update on iTunes so backed up my phone (local PC via iTunes) then proceeded to update. That update failed and the phone was just a black screen. I have restored from my iTunes local backup, that went without hitch. I can now receive phone calls but cannot make any or use any other phone features.

My face id unlocks the phone and I get the hello screen quickly followed by a greyed out "continue" button or a "Use Another Device to Sign In". This later button does nothing. The touchscreen is working, I can see the "Use Another Device to Sign In" button changing hue as I press it.

Anyone have any ideas how to proceed? I signed into iCloud on a PC so I know I have the correct ID's/passwords etc.

This seems like an AI initiated response and totally worthless.

1) It asks to "check my settings" failing to understand I cannot get passed the screen that says we have just updated your phone and the continue button is greyed out.

2) It asks "Before initiating a standard OS it is advisable to create a backup". I state I backed up my phone in the very first line of my post.

Yes it could be a pure coincidence but that fact that it is stuck on the screen saying we have just updated your phone is a dead giveaway!

I have since taken it to a store where they have wiped and reset the whole phone and it is working normally now at the latest version. I have lost all my apps/logins and photos of course but apps are easy to reload and the photos can be copied from the backup files. A pain yes but doable.

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

See what each update does: About iOS 18 Updates, About iOS 17 Updates, About iOS 16 Updates, About iOS 15 Updates, About iOS 14 Updates, About iOS 13 Updates, About iOS 12 Updates, and so on...
