I am the owner of an Apple One family account. When I try to set up Family i get message that the account I am using does not have ownership but I am the owner. How do I merge the accounts?

To resolve the issue where you're unable to set up Family Sharing on your Apple One account, follow these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Verify Account Ownership: First, double-check that you're signed into the correct Apple ID associated with your Apple One Family plan. Open Settings > tap your name (Apple ID) > Subscriptions > ensure Apple One is listed and active under your account.
  2. Check Your Apple One Family Plan: You must be the organizer of the Family Sharing group to invite others. If you're the account owner but not the organizer, you won’t have the necessary permissions. You can check this under Settings > tap your name > Family Sharing.
  3. Update iOS or macOS: Sometimes, outdated software can cause issues with syncing Apple IDs and Family Sharing. Make sure your device is running the latest iOS or macOS version by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
  4. Sign Out and Back In: Try signing out of your Apple ID and then signing back in. Go to Settings > tap your name, scroll down, and select Sign Out. After signing out, sign back in with your Apple ID.
  5. Re-Invite Family Members: Once you've ensured you are the correct account owner, try setting up Family Sharing again by going to Settings > Family Sharing > Add Family Member.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, you might need to contact Apple Support to help you merge the accounts or investigate further.

Re: "as owner of apple one account i cannot set up family:

Am no expert in this area, yet your request deserves some response.

Which Apple One subscription do you have: Comes in three types: Individual or Family or Premier

Assuming you have Apple One Family subscription:

You would need to be using the one same Apple Account details as the Apple One Subscription in Family Sharing

You could first check that you are signed in (to your computer or device) with the correct Apple Account details:

(Tip: Your Apple ID is generally an email address ... in some countries it may be a phone number.

An Apple Account password is necessary ... If you forgot your Apple Account password - Apple Support)

:

You might want to see if you can Set up Family Sharing - Apple Support using Apple's online guide.
