Slippery MacBook base causing accidental drops

I promised the seller at the Apple Store that I wasn't going to drop the machine, thinking I would not need extended warranty. Well, almost 2 years later, I just dropped my MacBook Pro 16 to the floor, sideways.

How did I manage it? I bent over to grab a distant external SSD, and the machine slipped off my laps.

The base of the laptop is too slippery, in my opinion, similar to my iPhone 12 which I add a rubberized case to protect it. Is that anything similar I can add to my MacBook, mostly the underneath?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.2

Yeah, I don't think I'd go with that particular item. It's made with aluminum and PVC. The aluminum will be VERY abrasive on your lap, clothing and anything you set the laptop on. That item is geared for step treads and such where one would walk on it.

You're looking for something that resists slipping but is still soft enough to put down on a tabletop or on your lap.

Something like one of these:

4pcs Phone Grip Tape, Anti-Slip Cell Phone Grip Decal Tape Stickers Transparent Mouse Grip Tape - amazon

BERNOI 8 Pieces Cell Phone Grip Anti-Slip Stickers Tape Mobile Grip Waterproof Stickers - amazon
