Why is my iPhone not registering keypad selections?

I’m trying to call a number where I have to press 1,2,3 etc on a menu to get to the next stage. My keypad lets me press the button and makes the tone but it does not register the selection then I get hung up on. I’ve called from my friends android and had no issues. I’ve tried; restarting, resetting network settings, updated iOS, taken sim out and put back in, messed round with the mute and volume buttons, turned Bluetooth off, tried using loudspeaker and without but the issue still remains. Can anyone help me I use this number on a regular basis and I can’t access its service because of my phone! I have an iphone12. Thank you

I've encountered this myself where a number doesn't recognize touch-tones (aka DTMF tones) and seen it reported elsewhere. One thing to try is to see if there's an update from your call carrier:


Manually update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support


You can also call your carrier and see if they are experiencing any issues. However, if this is only with a single number that you're calling, the problem may be on their end, not recognizing the DTMF tones your iPhone is sending. See if the organization you're trying to contact has an alternative method to use to try and get support for your problem.

Thanks but when I go to ‘about’ there is no option to update carrier settings and the word ‘carrier’ does not appear on the menu at all.

I contacted my network provider and then sent me a link to update their settings. I have done this and still no luck.

I have tried calling from my partners iPhone 15 and he is having the same issue yet Androids seem fine to access the phone menu. Also tried another number which uses voice menus and the outcome is the same.
