Unable to allow calls to vibrate when iPhone is in silent mode

context: I recently updated my iPhone 12 to iOS 18.1.1 from something old.

very lit iOS, Thanks for making it impossible for me to easily allow direct calls to my number to vibrate while disallowing app notifications to bother me.

I don't fully understand the evil genius who decided on a single setting which applies to both calls and notifications, but I understand enough to know they are not good. (Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Haptics ).

Interested to hear how people solve it. I find this hilarious https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255340862?login=true&sortBy=rank (you probably have to be logged in to see that lol looks like they embed that for some reason in the query string), particularly the advice of "have two iPhones". The manually allowing calls from specific people to break through a mode is also bizarre, but less funny because I guess that's doable if you want to add every person you ever add to your phone as a mobile number also in a whitelist somewhere else and on top of it destroy the usual meaning of a mode (something which alters the app but not at an entry-specific level, e.g. not something where it would apply only to some contacts).

Both suggestions which would clearly work are terrible. Looking for something better.
