I have a MacBook M3 Pro, and I looked up a website...and when I visited it a pop-up notification says that my laptop is under threat and I need to scan it for malware. Should I install an anti-virus software? I am worried whether or not if my laptop is infected.

Nothing was infected because a popup from a website does not have the ability to access your system files, modify them, then demand payment to remove something that never existed.

No, that pop-up is a scam. Don’t scan anything, don’t download anything, don’t install anything, don’t click on anything on that website. You do not need anti-virus or anti-malware software on your Mac.
