iPhone 14 Pro stuck on hello screen during setup with no Apple ID

Some backstory. My stepfather recently died, and my LG phone stopped working not long after, he had an iPhone 14 Pro so I transferred his ESIM to his older phone and transferred my sim to his iPhone from an iPhone 12 I’ve been using in the meantime.

Now then here’s the problem, the phone turned off while trying to do an update while I was attempting to set it up using the iPhone 12 (also an older phone of his and am transferring to the newer iPhone cause the 12 has a Lot of issues itself which is why he didn’t use it for long), and now it’s pretty much stuck on the hello screen. I try to swipe up and it’ll vibrate like it does when unlocking and will show the ‘Enter Pin’ screen for a second before going back to the hello screen. I’ve tried force restarting it Several times (volume up, volume down, power button) and I’ll get the loading circle for a couple of seconds before it immediately goes back to the hello screen as if it never tried to turn off, if it even Attempts to turn off to begin with. It won’t go into recovery mode either. Because it was in the middle of setting up, after resetting the phone, it doesn’t have an Apple ID assigned to it, meaning I can’t use my account or my stepfathers account to go to Find My and wipe it completely from there and try and start over, and my laptop (windows) doesn’t even Register the fact there’s even anything plugged in, I’ve tried Multiple different wires and even plugged my iPad and the iPhone 12 into it to make sure it’d even register Anything (it does to both). I’ve been trying Desperately to get this thing unlocked for over a full 24hrs now. Because my sim has been transferred to the eSIM in the iPhone I have NO working phone at the moment and that can’t be allowed as I have doctors appointments and a whole bunch of other stuff and people who will be trying to call me. I need Some kind of help with this, Please, any idea would be welcome at this point. I’m not even sure apple support or the Genius Bar can help since I have no proof of ownership since it’s a dead mans phone, which was actually given to him by my stepsister who would be no help with this anyways, especially since she’s not even in the same state as me. I’ve run out of ideas and this is driving me crazy at this point. Please, please, PLEASE help me.

iPhone 14 Pro stuck on hello screen during setup with no Apple ID: Getting into his account is not the issue. I am the one who originally made his account for him, so I’ve had access this whole time to it.

Thank you for clarifying.

Getting to the Home Screen:

If you got stuck in the middle of logging in to your Apple ID on it, then you may have lost the connection to Apple’s server while in the process. So, give Apple a call, and see how they can assist you with logging in.

So, Give Apple a Call:

Being you are having this as an ongoing issue, contact Apple Support. Report back what they say.

Apple Support Contact Us Info:

Screenshare with the Apple Rep:

To easily show the Apple Rep what is going on here, request a prompt for a screensharing session with the Apple Rep. That will allow them to see this firsthand, and upfront. Show this user through screensharing your Mac. Show them any paperwork or hover over something the screw, through screensharing another devices’s iSight Camera.

Taking this to an Apple Store:

Apple might help you log in over-the-phone, but you might have to take this to an Apple Store, if remote access cannot be performed. You’d up a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. There, it will be looked at and you'll be provided with your options.

Managing a Deceased Family Member's Device:

Transfer Ownership:

  1. Transfer ownership of your stepfather’s Apple Account to your account.* If his device were synced with iCloud, then you may be able to get it from is iCloud Drive, rather than directly from a device.
  2. Contact Apple Support, seeing if you can get the info.
