Apple Remote App not showing both TVs

I have two Apple TVs in my home - one is the 3rd Gen 4K and one is the 2nd Gen 4K. After I updated to iOS 18, the 2nd Gen 4K stopped showing up in the remote app on the phone. The 2nd Gen is connected wirelessly and the 3rd Gen is on main TV and connected wired. They are on the same LAN though and worked perfectly fine till the update. I tried removing and readding the iPhone to my 2nd Gen 4K and this changed nothing. I tried factory resetting the 2nd Gen and this also did nothing. I have the 3rd Gen set as the primary Hub because I have Matters devices the 2nd Gen doesn't recognize but even setting the Home Hub to Automatic selection or just to the Bedroom TV made no difference either. If anyone has any ideas as to why this is happening (assuming an iOS 18 bug) and how to fix it, that would be awesome. Thank you in advance.

One being a HomeKit home hub has no influence over the software remote on iPhone.

The software remote should find any Apple TV box on the same home network. It seems that somehow the wireless and the wired are not seen as the same home network; instead two separate networks (through the same router).

  • Try AirPlay. Can you AirPlay from a different device to either Apple TV box? Are both seen as destination option?
  • Try Home Sharing. Can both your Apple TV boxes find the home sharing computer on the network?

The success/fail for these two tests should be similar, as they use the network similarly.

Verify that your router is configured for one wireless network with one SSID network name. Multiple names (e.g. differentiating between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band) would result in multiple networks, where devices on one segment cannot communicate with devices on the other.

Verify that your router is configured for combining the wireless and wired into one ‘logical’ home network. I would expect this to be default for consumer routers, if the former condition is also met.

I have both the wired and wireless on the Default LAN, not any of my VLANs. The main home hub that is hardwired controls everything like normal. Everything worked fine till iOS18 update and then the remote app stopped seeing just the bedroom TV. The network was not changed since pre-iOS18 so no variable changed there. Screen mirroring still shows Bedroom TV as option. Everything is normal except the remote app just will not see my bedroom Apple TV.
